Hope Library opening hours slashed by 40pc
By Tony Flynn

Hope Library on Eccles Old Road is to have its opening hours slashed dramatically.

The cut represents a 40% drop in opening times, from 18 hours to just 11, and means that the library will now be closed on Monday and Friday afternoons.

The library, though small, is a friendly, homely one and serves the people of the Meadowgate and Lancaster Road area, who will not receive the news of the reduced hours gladly.

The library, which opened in 1957, originally consisted of a large adult section and a small junior library.

Several years ago the adult section was moved into the much smaller junior library and the premises were let to the Citizen's Advice Bureau.

From week beginning 6 February 2012, Hope Library will open on the following days:

Wednesdays 9.00am – 1.00pm 2.00 – 5.30pm

Saturdays 9.00am – 1.00pm.

Other Local Library Services available:

Eccles Library:

Monday – Thursday 8.00am – 10.00pm

Friday 8.00am – 7.30pm

Saturday 9.00am – 1.00pm

Height Library

Monday 9.30am – 12.30pm 1.30 – 7.30pm

Tuesday/Thursday/Friday 9.30am – 12.30pm 1.30 – 5.30pm

Saturday 9.00am – 1.00pm
