Video: Salford Elected Mayor - Yes or No - John Merry
The polls will close tomorrow in the vote to decide whether we want an elected mayor for the city of Salford.

The question being asked is:

"Should the electors for the area of Salford elect a Mayor who, with a Cabinet, will be in charge of our local services and lead Salford City Council?"

There are almost 150 polling stations throughout the city, open from 7am to 10pm.

Here the Leader of Salford City Council John Merry puts forward his final case why the people should vote 'No'.

If the 'No' votes outweigh the 'Yes' votes in the referendum, Salford will not choose a directly elected mayor and the system will stay as it is.
