Salford University Jazz Band at The Old Pint Pot

Salford University Jazz Band at The Old Pint Pot

By: Tony Flynn

Fans of jazz music may be interested to know that the University of Salford jazz musicians will be performing this Wednesday at The Old Pint Pot, The Crescent, Salford.

I have to admit that jazz music is not my cup of tea, but it does have its admirers and tonight the band will be playing some jazz standards and also original compositions.

Jazz 610 - the New Sense band will also be on show, they're constructed from past and present members of the University of Salford's music department and are organised and directed by graduates Joe Stevenson and Richard Rock.

The band has a mix of brass, woodwind and percussion instruments and performs wacky entertaining arrangements of popular tunes and standards featuring its many soloists.

Admission is free daddio! So get hip to that trip and strut your bones down to the scene, you finger popping hep cats. Insert your own jazz cliche here.

Starts 6.20pm.
