Sound of Salford's Search For A Star

The auditions for Sound of Salford 2012, an event hosted by Salford Shopping Centre in association with Key103, was held on Saturday 4 August and five lucky finalists have been selected to perform live on stage on Saturday 11.

Dozens of hopefuls took part in last Saturday’s auditions and the competition was stiff with the panel of expert judges having to make some difficult decisions. However five standout acts have been selected and are now preparing to give the performance of their lives on Saturday 11 August.

Lauren Thorne from Cheadle, Hannah Halsted from Swinton, Sophie Spencer from Macclesfield, and Arthur Cottam and Scott McManus (both from Manchester) are in training for the live final on a huge outdoor stage in the Market Way carpark hosted by Key103’s Darren Proctor. The live event runs from 12noon to 3.30pm when the winner will be crowned as the voice of Salford.

The winner will receive £500 and a professional recording session at the School of Sound Recording Manchester. On the day there will also be on the spot prizes, including the chance to win an iPod Touch, £50 iTunes voucher, £50 Wilkinson's voucher, 50 goodie bags from The Fragrance Shop and a £30 voucher from Greenhalghs.
