Video: Peat Extraction update

by Tom Rodgers

Jackie Anderson from Save the North West Greenbelt interviewed Barbara Keeley MP to get an update on the future of peat extraction in Salford.

The Worsley and Eccles South MP has been asking Parliamentary Questions to drill down (excuse the pun) to the government's official stance on peat extraction nationally.

Salford Council, it seems, want to stop renewing peat extraction licences on the precious mossland, and are looking for some strong counsel from the government.

This interview also includes footage shot by Jackie during a walk throught Barton Moss.

You'll be able to see the clear contrast in the green areas which are currently not used for extracting peat, and the miles of brown expanse which make up the extraction sites.
