'Mr Salford' - John Wilkinson part 1: Wilkinson Star
by Caroline Kullendorff

Occupying a major part in the recent history of Salford, John Wilkinson here explains a little about his life growing up in Walkden and the way that the recent business situation has affected his welding company, Wilkinson Star.

John was born in Walkden in 1945. He left Walkden Secondary School in Manchester at the age of 15 with no qualifications, and immediately started work. After being made redundant in 1971 he started his own business which now includes Wilkinson Star, The Willows and Chester's Hotel.

Here we investigate a little of John's past, and the immediate present of the businesses he's in.
