'Mr Salford' - John Wilkinson part 2: John and the Salford City Reds
by Caroline Kullendorff

John Wilkinson has been the chairman of Salford City Reds for 28 years, and in that time has seen the league side grow to the biggest and best-supported rugby team in the entire City.

Here we discover a little more about the background of John's involvement in Salford City Reds, his wife's part in getting him into rugby league, the share deals that went on to make John the chairman, and an in-depth investigation into the current status of the Reds' purported new stadium at Barton.

We also touch on the intrincacies of the new stadium, including the college and hotel that were to be attached, and why neither project worked out quite how John expected it.
