Local History: Eccles blue plaques Part 1 of 4
by Tony Flynn and Emma Davis

Walking around Eccles town centre you may have noticed several blue plaques attached to various buildings and possibly wondered what they were.

The plaques were put up in the late 1990's by Salford Council as part of a heritage trail, or Talking Town as the Eccles Town Centre Management team called it.

Here we look at five of the plaques and the associated buildings, they are The Royal Oak, Eccles train station, The cholera grayeyard site, St Mary's parish church and the old Regent cinema.

More videos on this local history subject will follow this week.
