Video: Profile on Ian Stewart - Part 1

by Tom Rodgers

As part of the newly announced Salford City Mayor's monthly video interview with SalfordOnline.com, we are re-running an incisive series of interviews we shot with Ian Stewart in 2009.

For those who perhaps don't know anything about Ian Stewart before his time as City Mayor, here we get an insight into the man as his term as MP for Eccles comes to an end.

In 2009 the Boundary Commission for England announced that for the 2010 general election Ian's constituency of Eccles would be split to form Salford and Eccles and Worsley and Eccles South, seats now occupied by Hazel Blears and Barbara Keeley respectively.

In the first video from 21st Jul 2009 we find a Salford politician whose career at the time appeared to be winding up. We find he has strong links to the educational aspects of trade unions, and is simply, often brutally, honest.

Here he explains a little of his own history, and his motivation to go into politics in the first place.
