Kidzrus Private Day Nursery - Details regarding the recent expansion of our childcare provision
By Nicola Fleury

I originally became a registered childminder in July 2006 caring for up to 6 children, I attended numerous training courses via Surestart, Salford and gained an NVQ level 3 in childcare and I am currently studying a level 4 in Childcare Management. We were quite unique as we initially provided wrap around care and due to the space available we increased our numbers to 18 children working with 2 assistants and would regularly care for up to 10 children at weekends as many working parents operated shifts and unsociable hours , we also provided overnight care and frequently cared for children when mums were hospitalised. The provision was extremely flexible and care was provided to suit the parents and child's needs as there is definitely a demand for this level of care, especially for parents who have no other support mechanism locally.

We are also a placement provider for Salford College and support apprentices thereby offering employment opportunities to the local community. During 2009 we were granted planning permission to operate as a day nursery registered for 26 children and soon after had the opportunity to open a larger day nursery nearby, registered for 62 children at our current premises Kidzrus, 98 Manchester Road, Swinton, M27 5FQ.

We have qualified and experienced staff who attend ongoing certified training in accordance with The Early Years Training Programme at Salford Surestart and are aware of the importance of establishing positive
relationships with parents and working within the EYFS framework.

Our aim is to continue to provide a high quality continuous provision with a friendly and homely environment where resources are available to the children at all times, empowering them to make choices and facilitating child-led learning through play. Another key role is to recognise the value of continuous quality improvement and how it impacts on the children's achievement - engaging with local authority years consultants and advisory teachers. We are shortly preparing to further develop a quality outdoor provision, offering continued access to the outdoor environment which is essential for children's physical and emotional development along with their personal well-being. Through research it has been proven that the outdoors offers children the opportunity to play with greater intensity, energy and imagination whilst being able to collaborate with others on a larger scale.

There is a huge emphasis on the outdoors as children desire the space and freedom as they naturally enjoy playing outside so that they can explore, problem solve and make connections in their thinking and understanding and have the space to be active, all of which are vital conditions for effective learning and development.

Parents are welcome to call or visit for an informal chat in order that we may assist with your childcare needs.
