Cadishead hit Rochdale while youth teams lose out

Cadishead Rhinos 24 Rochdale Mayfield 6Darren Hill gave Cadishead the best possible start when he scored after 2 minutes following one of his typical mazy runs to give the Rhinos and early 4-0 lead.
Despite playing the better rugby the Rhinos were pegged back on 22 minutes when a Rochdale penalty reduced their lead to 4-2. A Mark Martin try on 33 minutes converted by Steve Hill extended the Rhinos lead before Mayfield hit back just before the break to leave the scores at 10-6.
Cadishead stepped up a gear in the second half and 2 quick tries from Wes Conheeney and Darren Hill and a Steve Hill conversion took the score to 20-6.
On 71 minutes Jason Reed put the game beyond doubt when he rolled back the years and stormed 50 yards to score a breathtaking try in the corner.
Darren Hill was voted man of the match closely followed by Jason Reed and Mark Woodfine whilst teenagers George McNulty-Shaw, Danny Royle and Jon Gaskell all played their part.
Under 17s – New Springs Lions 68 Cadishead Rhinos 3
The under 17s travelled to Wigan to face unbeaten league leaders New Springs on Sunday and struggled to match the free flowing rugby played by their more experienced opponents.
Despite the scoreline the game was played in good spirit with the Rhinos points coming from a Jon Gaskell penalty and a drop goal from Cadishead man of the match George Mcnulty-Shaw.
Under 13s – Cadishead Rhinos 48 Culcheth Eagles 68
It was tries a plenty at Lord Street on Sunday morning when the under 13s took on local rivals Culcheth.
Despite tries from Kyle Ogden (4), Brad Morris (3), Keiron Hope, Tom Azzi and man of the match Josh Percival it was the Eagles that came out on top in a very entertaining game.
Under 11s – Cadishead Rhinos 14 Crosfield Cobras 44
The young Rhinos put in another superb performance displaying some great tackling and intelligent attacking options.
Captain Lewis Busuttil scored 2 tries and 1 conversion with Matthew Sloan grabbing the Rhinos other try.
In a very competitive first half the Rhinos trailed at 14-20 having matched Crosfields in every department.
Harrison Tyrrell, Dylan Mack and Liam Ashurst all had strong games however it was Lewis Busuttil who was voted the Rhinos man of the match.
