Next stop: The Ashes - Salford school sees sporting success
All Hallows School Cricket is developing nicely with a little help from Clifton Cricket Club. P.E. teacher and local cricketer Chris Tye reports that as little as three years ago All Hallows School played no cricket and with a lack of facilities in the area pupils did not have any experience of the game. After establishing a link with Clifton, Lancashire coaches came into the school to coach through the 'Chance to Shine' initiative and a culture of cricket began to emerge at the All Hallows. Since then All Hallows has been able to put out a number of different teams, playing all their home matches at Clifton Cricket Club’s Manchester Road ground. Recently the school have started to experience success on the pitch with good results against Walkden High School, St Ambrose Barlow and Moorside High Schools. Congratulations are due to all involved, not least Clifton Cricket Club who have once again proved their determination to help local children and children from the surrounding area, to experience cricket.
