Irlam Hornets RLFC match results

After a long Christmas and New year break Irlam Hornets were back to winning ways playing at home on Saturday 13th January against Hindpool from Barrow and won handsomely 46-0. The Hornets played some brilliant rugby league and there defence was outstanding.

The try scorers were Simon Davies, Joe Connor, John Brookes, Stuart Young , Stuart Strapps, Ben Connor, Kyle Neal, Lee Sailsbury and ross smith, with John Brookes and Sam Connor kicking the goals.

Man of the match went to Sam Connor, with Lee Sailsbury and Arthur Holgate 2nd and 3rd.

On Saturday 21st January Irlam Hornets played away to local rivals Langworthy from Salford with another well earned and a hard fought 18-0 win and 2 points to put the Hornets top of the League with only 4 games to play this season.

In terrible weather conditions the game was played with a safety first policy and a cautious first half which proved it with a 0-0 scoreline at half time.

In the second half Irlam Hornets got back to winning ways with 3 try's with John Brooks, Lee Salisbury and young Tom Connor scoring them and that's how it stayed.

With the Referee letting Langworthy slow the game down with nearly every play of the ball so the Hornets handling poorly, the Referee seemed to be making the wrong decisions against the play.

Irlam Hornets were left frustrated and disappointed with the end result albeit a win.

Next week Saturday 28th January The Hornets play away to Heysham Atoms in Heysham. This is going to be a tough encounter with past performances against Heysham being a very hard physical game to play.
