Woman attacked on her way to her car - Salford
Police are hunting robbers who attacked a woman as she walked to her car.

Shortly after 8pm on Wednesday 13 January 2010, the 32-year-old victim was walking to her car, which was parked in a small car park on Warren Street, off Bury Old Road in the Broughton Park area of Salford.

Two teenagers who were riding bicycles approached her and grabbed the woman.

One of the offenders punched her in the face and demanded her handbag.

The pair then fled, leaving the victim shocked and dazed.

She later went to hospital, where she was treated for facial injuries.

The offenders are described as being white. One was around 5ft 7ins tall and was wearing a dark hooded top and jogging bottoms. He was riding a silver or grey BMX bike.

His accomplice has been described as being aged between 13 and 16, shorter than the other and of slim build. He was wearing a black hooded top and was riding a silver or grey BMX bike.

Police Constable Will Hardman, of the Volume Crime team, based at Swinton police station, said: "This was a particularly vicious and unnecessarily violent, cowardly attack on a lone vulnerable woman.

"It has certainly left her feeling extremely shaken.

"These offenders need to be brought to justice and I'm asking for the public's help. I'd urge anyone who knows who is responsible for this attack, or who saw any part of it to call us.

"Incidents as nasty as this are fortunately not that common, but I think it's worth emphasising that people in the area need to be vigilant and take care of their belongings and themselves as much as possible."

Anyone with any information should call police on 0161 856 5250 or the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
