Toddler in Cadishead car-jacking
A two-year-old boy was caught up in a car robbery in Salford. At about 10.20pm on Wednesday 3 February 2010, a 29-year-old man went to his black Vauxhall Corsa, registration SB57 ECV, parked on Liverpool Road in Cadishead. The man's 21-year-old girlfriend was inside, with her two-year-old son. As he was getting in, he was hit over the head by a man and hit again when he was on the floor. One of the offenders got into the driver's seat, and another man demanded the woman get out. The woman took the boy and the car was driven away towards Irlam. The man needed stitching to a wound on the head. The offenders are described as being white men. The man who attacked the driver was 6ft tall, of medium build, and about 25 to 30-years-old. He was wearing a black hat and a red and white striped scarf to cover his face, and dark clothing. The man who went to the passenger side was 5ft 5in to 5ft 7in tall, of medium build and about 25 to 30-years-old. He was wearing a long black coat with his face partially covered. Police Constable Michelle Ingham said: "The offenders in this case showed little remorse for their victims. It is shocking that a two-year-old got caught up in this, and even more shocking that a man needed stitches. "Liverpool Road is a very busy road, even late at night, anyone who may have seen the incident or knows where the car went afterwards should call us. "This incident is being thoroughly investigated and we are confident that more witnesses can give us the vital information we need to progress our inquiries." Anyone with any information is asked to call police on 0161 856 5260 or call the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
