Police appeal for witnesses to attempted bag snatch
A lorry driver came to the rescue of a woman who was targeted by a pair of would-be robbers in Salford At about 1.35pm on Wednesday 10 February 2010, the victim, a 17-year-old girl, was walking along Bury New Road towards Park Lane, Broughton Park, when two other women approached her from behind. One of the robbers screamed at the victim to hand over her bag before both tried to snatch it from her. A lorry driver intervened and both offenders walked off towards Prestwich. One woman is described as white, 17-years-old, of slim build with blue eyes and brown hair. She was wearing a black top and coat with denim jeans. The second woman is described as white, 17-years-old, of slim build, slightly taller than the other woman with brown hair and eyes. She was also wearing a black top and coat with denim jeans. PC Adele Hall, from the Volume Crime Team at Swinton, said: "There would have been a number of people in the area at the time and I would urge them and the lorry driver who stopped what would have been a certain robbery to call police. "Incidents like this do not happen regularly and we are keen to reassure the public that this offence is being fully investigated."
