Ecstasy and cannabis recovered - Weaste
Hundreds of tablets of ecstasy and bags of cannabis have been seized by police.

The substantial haul of drugs were found after officers executed a warrant at a house on Kennedy Road, Weaste, on Thursday 11 February 2010.

A 26-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possessing class A and class B drugs and has been bailed until 5 March 2010 pending further inquiries.

Five hundred tablets believed to be ecstasy, and 24 bags of cannabis, were recovered.

Weaste Community Beat Officer PC Mike Hart said: "This positive result could only have come about as a result of intelligence we have received from members of the community.

"I hope we have sent out a strong message that we listen to and act on concerns raised by the community, we are committed to washing our streets clean of drugs.

"Drugs cause untold misery to our communities and we also believe that discoveries like this will help our fight against other crimes."

Anyone with information on drug dealing in their area is asked to call police on 0161 872 5050 or call the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

Between October and December 2009, there was a 13.4% reduction in crime in Greater Manchester, and 9,434 fewer victims, compared to the same three months in 2008.
