Police in Salford are becoming increasingly concerned for the whereabouts of a 46-year-old man. Mark Isherwood left his home on Grasmere Crescent, Winton on Sunday 15 August 2010, around 7pm. He said he was going for petrol but did not return and has not been seen since.
He was last seen wearing a green t-shirt, green and white Bermuda type shorts with brown sandals. Mark is described as white, 5ft 8ins tall, of proportionate build and bald.
He is believed to be driving a Blue Fiat Doblo motor vehicle registration number MH03XBX.
Inspector Matthew Whitehead said: "Mark has never been missing before and his disappearance is highly unusual and out of character.
"There is no obvious reason why he has failed to return home and his family and the police are very concerned for his well being.
"If anyone knows where Mark is or why he has gone missing please get in touch.
"I also want to appeal directly to Mark, if you are reading or hearing this appeal, please call us just so we know you are safe and well."
Anyone with information should call police on 0161 856 5322 or 0161 872 5050.

I have just stumbled on this news whilst searching for contact details for Mark and am completely shocked at this loss to his family and to Salford. At Salford Sailing Group, working with Mike Fisher - who I see has also commented here, Mark taught me sailing (plus much more) for 5+ years back in the 1980's - setting me on my way to the career I have followed since. I'm just stunned at this news and send my best wishes to his family and friends. Matt Cowpe |

A very sad loss of a very dedicated youth worker and supporter of young people in Salford. Mark gave his time and energy tirelessly, he will be sorely missed. My deepest sympathies to his wife, children, and family. Tony Downes |

Danny Buck in his comments above says it all. Mark was truly an amazing youth worker. I watched him grow from a teenager to a man. From a man to a husband and from a husband to a father. His contribution to youth work in Salford was unique, in the true sense of the word. He will be irreplaceable. Sleep well 'thou good and faithful servant', your like will not be seen again. Our thoughts are with his family. Michael Fisher - one time mentor. |

Such an amazing Youth Worker, I had some of the greatest experiences any young person could wish for, caving, sailing, climbing, the list goes on. Thank you Mark. Danny Buck |

I've known mark since about 1985. Although 14 years my junior I always looked up to him. A genuine diamond of a man who did so much for others. The likes of Mark are a rarity. Salford and the young people of Salford are indebted to Mark. During training week-ends etc for the Youth Service and the SEN Support Service he was a soul mate and inspiration to me. I'll miss him greatly but my thoughts are with his family. RIP
