Residents encouraged to join Home Watch
Residents interested in helping keep their neighbourhood safe and improving the community spirit in their area are being urged to become Home Watch coordinators.
Following a successful meeting in August where five schemes were established in Lower Irlam, a further meeting has been arranged for 29 September at Lady James Hall Community Centre at 7pm. Police community support officer (PCSO) Mark Fitzgerald from Salford South Neighbourhood Policing Team said: “The last meeting we had was an outstanding success and it proved that members of the community are willing to work with police to help keep their neighbours and themselves safe. I am hoping even more people will be want to become a member of the Home Watch family and help us beat crime and anti-social behaviour. “The main objective of Home Watch is to help people protect themselves and their property by improving home security, reporting suspicious behaviour to police as well as creating a community spirit.” If you are interested in becoming a coordinator or setting up a scheme, contact your local Neighbourhood Policing Team.
