Call for M5 northbound drivers to contact Gloucestershire Police
As part of their investigation into a collision on the M5 earlier in the week Gloucestershire Police are appealing for drivers that were travelling northbound on the motorway at the time of the incident to get in touch.

The collision happened at around 5.10pm on Tuesday January 17 on the M5 between junctions 10 and 11.

Seven vehicles were involved in the collision, which saw a red lorry cross the central reservation from the northbound carriageway onto the southbound.

The driver from one of the vehicles, a 25-year-old man from Bridgwater in Somerset, was airlifted to Frenchay Hospital in Bristol, where he remains in a serious condition.

Shortly after the collision a 55-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving and has since been bailed to return to the police station on April 17, pending further enquiries.

Officers are particularly eager to hear from anyone that was travelling northbound on the motorway around the time of the incident that may have seen the incident in front of them or in their rear view mirror.

Witnesses that haven’t yet spoken to officers are asked to contact Police by dialling the national non-emergency number, 101, and requesting Gloucestershire Constabulary reference incident number 261 of January 17.
