Salford dealer among 26 sentenced
Salford man John Kennedy is among twenty-six drug dealers who have now been sentenced to over 60 years in prison. Kennedy, 39, of Arthur Millwood Court, was sentenced in December to four years and four months for supplying Class A drugs. Today, Wednesday 1 February 2012, at Manchester Crown Court, Crown Square, two more class A drug dealers were sentenced. Both pleaded guilty at an earlier hearing. David McKenzie, (born 18/04/1988) of Church Street, Westhoughton has been jailed for three years. Lee-Jay Gordon, (born 31/05/1988) of Holdgate Close, Hulme has been jailed for three years. These drug dealers were just two of the 75 people arrested on 6 December 2011, as part of Operation Audacious, Manchester's biggest crackdown on street-level drug dealing. Today’s result takes the total number of people sentenced so far for this operation to 26, to a total of 62 years and six months in prison between them. Chief Superintendent Russ Jackson who is leading Operation Audacious, said: “More than 25 drug dealers have now been sentenced as part of this operation since December, with another two put behind bars today, where they belong. “This operation has shown that regardless of how old you are, you cannot get away with being involved in the sale and supply of illegal drugs, as we will make you pay the consequences if you do."
