Salford City Council says it has saved more than £1m from its energy bills in the last six years.A council press release reads: "Since 2007 £1,082,977 has been saved through a range of energy saving ideas despite a dramatic rise in suppliers' prices. "Staff have made £190,000 of electricity savings and used almost a third less gas. As a result carbon dioxide emissions have been reduced by nearly 20 per cent.
