Views wanted on proposed minor charges to waste plan
Greater Manchester councils want your views on proposed minor changes to the Greater Manchester Waste Plan.
The Plan was examined by an independent inspector in June 2011 and these proposed changes are the result. The consultation runs from Friday 22nd July to Friday 2nd September 2011. Councillor Derek Antrobus, Chair of the Committee preparing the Waste Plan, said: "This Plan aims to ensure that the 10 planning authorities have policies in place to ensure that we can cope with waste produced in the future in the greenest, safest and cleanest way possible. In February 2011, the Waste Plan was submitted to the Secretary of State for independent examination. A number of minor changes were proposed during the examination hearing sessions. The Planning Inspector, Mr Andrew Mead, has requested that views are sought on the proposed minor changes. "The purpose of this consultation is to get views from members of the public and other interested parties on whether the Plan is still sound with these changes - whether it is justified, effective and consistent with national policy and legally compliant. Cllr Antrobus added.
