550 houses on Salford farm - have your say
You may or may not be aware that we are at the next consultation stage of the Salford City Council - Draft Core Strategy. Briefly, you should be aware that the Burgess Farm site, on Hilton Lane, is still included with plans to build 550 houses with access off Hilton Lane. This is despite the fact that there has been strong opposition from residents throughout the consultation stage so far and the fact that the latest planning application was refused by the council earlier this month as a result of equally strong opposition. The Salford City Council - Draft Core Strategy identifies a larger area of land and greater number of houses than that in the recent planning application. The Core Strategy Pre Publication Consultation document, supporting documents and a response form can be viewed anytime in libraries across Salford, at Salford Civic Centre, Swinton and online at http://www.salford.gov.uk/core-strategy.htm In addition, the Core Strategy Pre Publication Consultation will be discussed at the Walkden & Little Hulton Community Committee meeting on Monday 1st August. This meeting is held at St Paul's Peel Church Hall, Manchester Road West, Little Hulton starting at 6pm. YOU ARE ENCOURAGED TO HAVE YOUR ‘SAY’. PLEASE ATTEND THE MEETING ON THE 1st AUGUST AND SEND YOUR COMMENTS TO THE COUNCIL The closing date for comments is 4.30pm on Monday 1st August 2011 (although we are requesting an extension to this date in view of the fact that the above meeting is after this). Attached is a draft letter identifying the main comments which we feel should be made to the council at this stage. Please feel free to use this as the basis of your response or simply by adding your own name, address and signature and sending it to the address shown on the letter. Please send us your e-mail address and/or feel free to contact us if you would like to be kept informed:- Burgess Farm Residents Group E-mail: wendy.howarth@homecall.co.uk Telephone: Wendy/Eddie on 0161 790 6471 or Sue on 0161 799 7592.
