Walkden street party for new council homes
A street party is being held for residents who have moved into the first council homes to be built in Salford for 25 years.

To mark the completion of the 101 new homes, families from the final street to move in have been invited to the party on Friday 16 September to meet their new neighbours.

The homes, which are in Walkden, Weaste and Seedley, Little Hulton, Winton and Irwell Riverside, will be managed by Salix Homes.

The Mayor of Salford will also be there to formally open the street, meet residents and see their new homes.

Children from Cheetham’s School of Music will be performing before the party to welcome guests.

Kids’ activities will also be available including a ‘beat the goalie’ contest, a colouring competition, putty modelling, face painting, plant pot planting and decorating and a disco.

Councillor Peter Connor, lead member for housing said: “It’s great to see this project finished and people living in their new homes. The street party is a great way for the community to get to know each other and celebrate the first council homes to be built in Salford for a quarter of a century.”
